Forest degradation and deforestation constitute a considerable fraction of human-induced emission of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere across the globe every year, which is a primary cause of the loss of biodiversity and devastation of homes of millions of people. Regardless of local/regional causes, its impact is global. The book also includes analysis of the effects and causes of deforestation and the actions required for avoiding it along with a fundamental description about deforestation dynamics across the planet. Emphasis has been laid on distinct remote-sensing and mapping methodologies that could be employed as a tool for promoting forest conservation and preventing deforestation
