摘要、提要註:
This book brings about important researches in the field of oral cancer relating to its prognosis and treatment. Oral cancer is a crucial public health problem on a global scale and even though, the oral cavity is easily accessible, early diagnosis is still far behind the improved detection of cancers of the colon, melanoma, breast, and prostate. Consequently, death rate due to oral cancer for the last four decades has continued to be over 50% despite significant progresses in treatment modalities. This is contrasting against significant reduction in death rates due to cancers of colon, melanoma, prostate, and breast during the same period. The aim of this book is to serve as a useful source of reference on the etiologic/risk factors, management philosophies, progression indicators, present clinical diagnostic tools, and molecular biomarkers of oral cancer, thereby extensively elucidating this vast topic for interested readers.
