This thesis seeks to examine accommodation made among teachers in adult English as a Second Language classrooms. Data were collected by conducting an ethnographic analysis of the classrooms. Audio recordings were made in the classes and transcribed to find patterns of accommodation. Three teachers were observed, one teacher of advanced level ESL and two teachers of intermediate level ESL. The student participants were over the age of eighteen and consisted of Spanish, Turkish, and Mandarin speakers. The findings conclude that teachers made accommodations to aid their students' learning; these accommodations were influenced by assorted variables including language and cultural knowledge of the students, and accommodation by the teachers was not distributed equally among students.
