摘要、提要註:
Africa is a unique continent, and the solutions to its multifaceted problems and challenges are only going to come from its own soil. The collection of papers from authors, who are preeminent voices in the diversity discipline on the continent, explores notions of cross-vengence and hybridization of Africa's sense making processes and activities - seeking to draw the best from its colonial past (and discarding the dysfunctional) - herein, the authors believe, is the unifying force through which Africa can subordinate its individual and selfish goals and aims, in favour of the group/common good, so that all in the region may benefit. The book explores the persoanl, organisational, as well as societal dimensions, and is filled with powerful stories, new perspectives for thinking, best practice, researched academic frameworks, and learning emanating from the continent itself. It is a book written by Africans, for Africa! The reader will be challenged to rethink and reflec on dominent worldviews and its deficiencies, that are critiqued and reinterpreted by the authors in the book, and will also be encouraged by the new paterial and perspectives presented. 'Diversity in Africa: The Coming of Age of a Continent' is suited as a core reader for MBA, ungdergraduate and post-graduate courses, that seek to relate business-government-society and the responsibility of individuals/leaders towards creating desired futures, as well as a text to support employee learning development initiatives sponsored by corporations or public sector groups.
