摘要、提要註:
"Schizophrenia is a disease of the brain, but in contrast to other diseases such as diabetes, epilepsy or high blood-pressure, there is much less tolerance and understanding in society if someone suffers from schizophrenia. In addition, schizophrenic patients can become overwhelmed by the complexity of the problems emerging with the disease, as also can be their relatives and caregivers. However, our knowledge concerning the diagnosis, neurobiology and pharmacological treatment strategies has been expanded considerably in recent years, and it is one of the aims of this book to summarize this current knowledge, looking at both the biopsychosocial approaches and the current challenges with this disease. The chapters - all contributed by world-leading experts - cover diagnosis and psychopathology, neurobiology, pharmacological treatment strategies, non-pharmacological treatment as well as the role of schizophrenia in society. This book will be essential reading for physicians and scientists in the various psychiatric specialties, as well as for neurologists and those concerned with public health considerations."--Jacket.
