Part One introducesthree key considerations in developing ESP courses: analyzing needs; investigating specialist discourse and determining the curriculum. Part Two presents four case studies showing howexperienced ESP teachers setabout developing courses to meet the distinctive needs of their particular learners, the decisions they made and the reasoning behind them. The book takes the stance that much can be learned by examining the practice of ESP teachers and course developers as well as the literature. The work refers to a wide range of ESP courses and includes discussion questions to encourage readers to reflect on the ideas described. The work will be of interest to students on TESOL courses and to prospective and practising teachers of ESP.
