摘要、提要註:
How Managers have learnt to Lead provides an insight into the black-box of leadership learning. Billions of pounds are spent every year to develop leaders without a clear understanding of what really occurs to shape the development of leadership practice. Steve Kempster explores howleadership practice is learnt, by chapter reviews of leadership, learning, and leadership development. From this foundation he examines leadership learning of public and private sectors, women managers and owner-managers. The insights from these four groups allow an explanation to be put forward that addresses the fundamental question: how do we learn to lead? For students about to start their leadership learning apprenticeship, or managers with experience studying for example anMBA, this book is a companion to guide development and will save considerable time, effort and pain. For experienced managers the book seeks to stimulate awareness of how current practice is affecting the next generation of leaders.
