Global climate change, increasing climate variability, and an increased incidence of extreme weather events affect every aspect of plant physiology. Extensive research on ecological and environmental plant physiology has provided mechanistic understanding of the survival, distribution, productivity, and abundance of plant species across the diverse climates of our planet.
