In general, the subject matter is treated in order of increasing complexity, com-pounds of C, H, and O in chapters 3 and 4 and compounds of C, H, O and N in chapters 5 - 8. Chapter 2 covers the various methods developed in early studies to determine the overall distribution of phosphorus-containing compounds in plants. Appendix A covers the changes in phosphorus-containing compounds during germination and Appendix B their accumulation during growth and senescence. The final sections of the book com-prise separate indexes of plants and phosphorus-containing compounds and a comprehen-sive list of references"--
