This is not a gentle account of an old diplomat's letters and diaries just before Mao took over power. The 1939-45 war was a titanic struggle for the USSR and for China; it was a period of massive and heroic struggles, the world was in the process of great change - and Fu Bingchang was at the epicentre. This book uncovers the real secrets of Chinese-Soviet diplomacy during the Chiang Kaishek years - inside the walls of the Chinese embassy in Moscow.
