摘要、提要註: This collection of essays investigates dramatic and performative renderings of 'America' as an exilic place particularly focusing on issuesof language, space, and identity. It explores the ideaof 'America' from metaphoric to physical space of exile and ways in which it has beenshaped and transformed through exilic experiences, visions, and performances, but also in the light of the current political climate in the US. It aims to address the problems of representation of the Other on stage and to investigate how 'America' and exile are imagined, challenged, and theatricalized in the works of various theatre artists. This collection offers a twofold perceptive - it looks at ways in which immigrants and outsiders are embodied in American theatre practice; and explores ways in which 'America' is staged and dramatized by immigrants and foreigners.
