摘要、提要註: Keekok Lee explores the philosophical foundation of modern medicine, a link often ignored if not denied between medicine and its philosophy. This relationship explains why such a medicine possesses the characteristics it does, both in terms of the fundamental sciences behind the medicine and its therapies, between basic scientific discoveries in science and technology. She also argues that the single most important thing to grasp is that every philosophy entails its own methodological requirements for doing science, and therefore, for doing medicine. The book enables us to understand why modern Medicine is Engineering. Such an exploration between philosophy and its methodological implications explains where precisely the strengths as well as the weaknesses of modern medicine lie. Written in plain English, it should be accessible to anyone who is intellectually curious, lay persons and medical professionals alike.
